Dr. Andrew Davidson

Dr. Andrew Davidson:

Dr. Andrew Davidson graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992, and has enjoyed practicing in his hometown ever since.

His passion to care for animals of all kinds began in childhood, starting with a guinea pig at age 5. Throughout his career he has loved working with many types of companion animals, from dogs and cats to birds and small mammals, as well as more exotic creatures such as reptiles and wildlife. He relishes the joy of learning about and attending to the various unique needs of each and every pet. There is nothing more satisfying to him than being able to help a pet in need return home with its tail wagging.

In his spare time, he has volunteered many hours helping injured eagles, owls, foxes and other native Manitoba creatures for different local wildlife rehabilitation groups.

At home, he enjoys camping, canoeing, hiking and many other outdoor activities with his wife and three children. To capture these memories his love of photography has grown and shifted to include wildlife, the spectacular natural beauty of the world, and the joy of watching his family grow.

Dr. Val Dirdala

Dr. Val Dirdala:

Ever since he can remember Dr. Val has loved nature and animals. He diligently started bringing home all of them, to his parents' “delight”, as they were living in a small fifth floor apartment. From sparrow babies to hedgehogs, snakes, dogs, and cats - everybody was welcome.

After finishing high school he knew there was only one thing he could do, which was look after and work with animals, so he became a Veterinarian. That was the best decision he could have made and after all these years he can honestly say he still loves his job!
Dr. Val graduated from University in 1997 and moved to Canada from Romania. He considers it a great decision and is very proud to be Canadian.

Over the last 25 years he has had the opportunity to work and specialize with some amazing Veterinarians both in large and small animal practice. He has special interests in Surgery, Dentistry, Medicine, and especially Preventive Medicine; though the most valuable lesson he has learned from all this is to be kind and patient.

In his spare time Dr. Val can be found spending time with his family and pets, often outdoors enjoying amazing kayaking, hiking, and skiing trips in the incredible Canadian landscape. Discovering the Canadian wild was a childhood dream that he feels extremely fortunate to live.

Dr. Toni Moritz

Dr. Toni Moritz:

Dr. Toni Moritz is a graduate from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM). Prior to pursuing veterinary medicine, she graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelors of Science. Growing up she always loved animals and spent many years volunteering at a shelter in Winnipeg. In vet school her passion for zoo, exotic and wildlife animals grew and she realized she wanted to pursue it further. After graduation she successfully completed a year-long specialty internship at the WCVM in Zoological, Exotic and Wildlife medicine.

Dr. Moritz has worked with a number of different animals including; small mammals (ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents), reptiles, amphibians, and all varieties of bird. She loves working with all wildlife, and spent some time at a large wildlife center in Virginia during vet school that has given her the skills to treat them effectively. Dr. Moritz is very excited to be able to continue that work with the Wildlife Rehab organization that Whyte Ridge is associated with.
At home she loves cooking, drawing and spending quality time with her two resident pets Miley the dog, Windsor the cat, and a frequent rotation of foster reptiles, rabbits and birds!
